Former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji has stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama and the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, met the day before at the Rinas Airport, while he requested that what was discussed between them be made public. The claim about the meeting has not been confirmed in the reporting cited by the mentioned parties.
In an interview with News24, Salianji also claimed that Republican Guard employees have been threatened with dismissal after information was published about a possible meeting between Rama and Berisha.
According to him, both politicians were in Rinas at the same time, as Rama had returned from the United States, while Berisha was heading to Strasbourg. Salianji also raised questions about the fact that the prime minister's announced conference took place late, linking this circumstance to his claim about the meeting.
The former Democratic MP further criticized the way the opposition is reacting to the recent developments related to SHISH. According to him, the opposition should have organized protests and demanded a stronger political and public response.
Salianji directed strong criticism at Berisha, claiming that the way the opposition is being led serves Rama's stay in power.
"If I were to lead the opposition and stay like this, the state would rot and I would go on a tourist trip to Strasbourg," declared Salianji, adding that, according to him, Berisha's departure and the restructuring of the opposition would change political relations in the country.
