During his speech at the UN meeting, Kosovo Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca called on Serbia to accept reality and recognize Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
Konjufca stressed that Kosovo remains committed to the normalization of interstate and neighborly relations, but according to him, the main obstacle in this process continues to be Serbia.
'Kosovo remains ready to normalize interstate and neighborly relations, however, the obstacle to peace and normalization of relations remains Serbia, which is neither interested in normalizing relations with Kosovo nor in joining the EU,' he stated.
He called on Belgrade to face reality and recognize Kosovo, adding that Serbia's actions are holding the entire region hostage.
In his speech, Konjufca accused Belgrade of interfering in democratic processes in Kosovo, including attempts to influence the elections through support for the Serbian List.
"Belgrade has continued to play its destructive role by trying to interfere in the elections, aiming to reflect its leadership through a ruling party. We have prevented such foreign interference and have managed to preserve the dignity of our democratic institutions," he said.
The Foreign Minister of Kosovo said that despite the challenges, his country will continue to defend the democratic order and its sovereignty.
