The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, ends her mandate today, April 4, 2026. In the absence of an election of a new president, she hands over the task to the Speaker of the Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu.
The handover ceremony will be held at the President's Office at 4:00 p.m. The Presidency has announced that the act is formal and symbolic, marking the transfer of powers.
The political situation in Kosovo is tense due to the failure to elect a president. The Assembly failed to decide on the president due to a lack of quorum, while Osman's decision to dissolve the Assembly has been challenged in the Constitutional Court.
