
Ilir Panda, judge of the Supreme Court since March 11, 2020, has expressed interest in taking over the leadership of this court.
Panda currently holds the position of Deputy President of the Supreme Court, a position to which he was elected on November 16, 2023 by the general meeting of judges.
The race for the new president of the Supreme Court opened in mid-August, as the 3-year mandate of the current president, Sokol Sadushi, ends on October 17.
Today is the deadline for candidates to submit their documents. According to the rules, only Supreme Court judges are eligible to run.
Until midnight, it is expected to be seen whether there will be other magistrates who will express interest in this position.
The new President of the Supreme Court is expected to begin his duties on October 18, guaranteeing institutional continuity in the leadership of the court.
