The Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, Vali Bizhga, has reportedly resigned after many years in the position. Ms. Bizhga has been close to Edi Rama's administration since he headed the Municipality of Tirana. She has kept a low public profile, while being considered the Prime Minister's right-hand woman.
Ms. Bizhga has also been experiencing health problems, which seems to be the reason for her resignation. The surprise is related to her replacement, who is also a woman. Her name is Vilma Premti and until two days ago she was the chief of staff of the President of the Constitutional Court, Olta Zaçaj.
After the resignation, VNA sources indicate that she is expected to replace Vali Bizhga in her function as chief of the prime minister's cabinet. Although seemingly in a cold war – Zaçaj on the verge of leaving and Rama at the peak of power – it seems that they have laid down their weapons and found peace with the transfer of staff. Which makes you understand how independent the head of the Constitutional Court has been from the head of the government.
