The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group has filed a request for urgent interpellation with Prime Minister Edi Rama, demanding an account of a meeting held in Aruba in January 2019, where, according to suspicions, representatives of the government and organized crime were present.
DP MPs, under the leadership of Sali Berisha, are seeking clarification regarding the possible influence of criminal groups on the Albanian economy, including the allocation of public funds and the granting of licenses for dubious investments.
The request follows investigations by Italian journalist Nello Trocchia and international reports related to money laundering and international drug trafficking. The PD also seeks information on the possibility of criminal groups obtaining construction permits and public contracts from the government.
The MPs who signed the request are: Sali Berisha, Gazment Bardhi, Jorida Tabaku, Agron Gjekmarkaj, Luciano Boci, Ina Zhupa and Flamur Noka. The Democratic Party calls on the Assembly to discuss the issue in the next plenary session.
