The majority and the opposition have finally reached consensus on the establishment of the Electoral Reform Commission, including Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party in the agreement.
After weeks of negotiations, the SP and the DP have agreed on a commission with real equality, 8 by 8 members, where for the first time small parties outside the parliamentary groups will also be represented.
To avoid a stalemate, the Socialists have agreed to give up one of their seats in favor of the PSD, leaving Tom Doshi with an independent vote on the committee.
On the other hand, the opposition has agreed to divide its seats among the forces that comprise it: 5 for the DP, 1 for the PR, 1 for the PL and 1 for Agron Shehaj.
The commission, which will have two co-chairs with veto power, is expected to be approved in the parliamentary session on October 30, paving the way for a process that is expected to determine the new rules of the electoral race.
