Thursday is not the only day when MPs work. There they compete more for prominence, while when it comes to what should be the real work, drafting laws, and which takes place in parliamentary committees, the panorama is completely different.
Figures compiled by VNA, based on payments made by the Assembly to MPs for their participation in Committees, show that the "table of honor" includes socialists and MPs who usually do not have a voice on Thursdays.
This is explained by the fact that the SP does not tolerate absences in committees and the adoption of laws does not occur if they are absent, unlike the opposition who are negligent towards parliamentary committee meetings.
"Champions" of the commissions
At the top of the list as the most active MP in terms of participation in parliamentary committee meetings is Kiduina Zaka, who leads with 18,700 lek honorarium, followed by Ornaldo Rakipi with 15,300 lek. These figures show that these MPs are not only members of several committees, but have had a constant participation in the meetings convened during December.
The group of "tireless" also includes names like Ulsi Manja and a large group of MPs who have collected between 13,600 and 14,450 lek, demonstrating a strict presence in discussions on draft laws and monitoring of institutions.
Silencing the "powerful voices"
A total of 10 MPs ended December with 0 lek in honorariums.
In this "negligent" list, prominent opposition figures such as Sali Berisha, Gazment Bardhi, and Agron Shehaj stand out.
Although the situation is understandable for Berisha because he is not a member of any committee, the absence of the leader of the Democratic parliamentary group or even the leader of the Opportunity party from the meeting is noticeable.
Although their political agenda may be packed with extra-parliamentary activities or boycotts, official figures confirm that their contribution to the drafting of laws in committees during this period has been zero.
