The High Judicial Council has appointed 42 new magistrates today, who were sworn in at a ceremony held at the premises of the “Freedom Police”. With this act, the Albanian judicial system was enriched with a new generation of professionals who are expected to bear responsibility for the implementation of the law and for strengthening citizens’ trust in justice. According to the decision of the High Judicial Council, the distribution of new magistrates has been made to 11 courts of general jurisdiction. The highest number of appointments has been received by the Administrative Court of Lushnja, as well as the courts of first instance in Elbasan and Fier, with 7 judges each.
At this ceremony, the absence of the President of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi, who was not present because he was not invited, was noticeable. Through a written response, Sadushi conveyed his congratulations to the new magistrates, emphasizing: “On this day marked for your career and for the justice system, I wish you success, dedication and honesty in the mission you are embarking on. Even though I was not invited among you today, I feel the same joy and respect for this solemn moment that marks the beginning of a great responsibility towards the law and citizens. I hope that in the future, such important events will always reflect the maturity, coordination and respect that we owe to justice.”
The fact that the head of the Supreme Court and at the same time the chairman of the Governing Council of the School of Magistrates was not invited to a ceremony directly related to the system he represents is a clear indication of the crisis of cooperation between justice institutions. This lack of institutional communication, already manifested in several cases, seems to be deepening the divisions at the highest levels of the judicial system.
Today's ceremony, which should have been a day of joy and hope for Albanian justice, turned into yet another testament to the lack of harmony between the institutions. Instead of symbolizing their unity alongside the new generation of judges, it highlighted the internal divisions that are widening the gap between those who are supposed to guarantee justice in Albania.
