Journalist Esiona Konomi has denounced that the Albanian Parliament had deleted or hidden all parliamentary documentation from its official website, limiting public access to the deposited acts. She stated that until two days ago every document was visible in the “Documentation” section, while it had subsequently become inaccessible.
According to Konomi, the Parliament's unofficial explanations for the establishment of "search filters" were unconvincing and constituted a step backward in transparency.
However, following her communications with the responsible staff, the documents have been restored to the Parliament's website, becoming accessible to the public again.
The denunciation of journalist Esiona Konomi:
The Albanian Parliament has deleted/hidden all parliamentary documentation. Until two days ago, every act filed in the Parliament was displayed here, in the "Documentation" window and the "Documentation" subsection.
I do not know the reasons for this maneuver. The unofficial explanations of the Assembly, that they have set filters to search for something specific, are unconvincing. I have no way of knowing what has been filed if it is not shown here. Consequently, I have no way of applying filters to search for an act. It is good that the Parliament takes some step towards facilitating, and not worsening, transparency.
After further communication with the responsible staff of the Assembly, the documents are restored to the Parliament website, as they were before.
