The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has warned of the return of opposition protests, emphasizing that a caretaker government "will never be created unless the opposition imposes it itself."
"No one can create a technical government unless they create it themselves, unless they impose it themselves. Therefore, Albanians, if they want to vote freely, let us prepare for our battle, for our protest for a free vote. We demand a technical government, but be sure that without our powerful voice in the streets and squares of this country, it will not be created. We must rise up and we will rise up. There is no question about this," declared Berisha.
During the press conference, the opposition leader called the current Parliament "the most hostile to Albanians in its 32-year history," accusing it of incompetence and corruption, as well as of passing laws "without any real discussion."
However, the Democratic Party has not yet conducted an analysis of the loss in the May 11 elections, which it considers to have been rigged. Despite this, many of the DP's claims are reflected in the OSCE/ODIHR report, which highlights problems in the administration and transparency of the process.
