Prime Minister Edi Rama responded today in Parliament to the opposition's accusations about his absence from the Economic Forum in Davos. With a dose of irony, Rama explained that he was faced with a choice between meeting with US President Donald Trump and hosting his daughter, Ivanka Trump, in Albania.
"So that you don't worry about why I wasn't there, I had to make a choice: to respond to my father's invitation or to welcome my daughter to Albania. I chose my daughter, of course with my father's permission," Rama declared.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, during his speech in Parliament, after assessing Albania's membership in the Peace Board, addressed Rama, calling him "Belinda's palosh." The Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi, intervened, warning Berisha to vacate the podium, warning of measures otherwise.
