Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the publication of the European Commission's progress report on Albania. Through a post on the social network X, Rama shared the statement of the Commissioner for Development, Marta Kos, who never spares praise for the government regarding this process.
"Albania has made unprecedented progress. This extraordinary result is clear evidence of Albania's strong political commitment and the clear European aspirations of Albanian society," Kos writes.
Rama responds by emphasizing his commitment to strengthening Albania's role in the integration process:
"Yes, we did and we will do whatever it takes to finally sit as equals around the EU table. Let's continue, let's move forward, together," the prime minister said.
However, he has not yet given a justification for his decision to cancel his participation in the European Union Enlargement Summit, which takes place today in Brussels and is attended by the leaders of candidate countries for membership in the Union.
This decision raises questions, given the commitment and sensational promises of the prime minister and his government that integration into the European Union will be completed by 2030.
The EU Enlargement Summit, scheduled to take place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, will focus on discussions on strengthening the voice of candidate countries. Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has described this new phase as a process of “reuniting Europe.”
