The Socialist Party Parliamentary Group will meet on Thursday at 11:00 at the Brigades Palace to decide on voting on SPAK's request for the arrest of Belinda Balluku.
The meeting follows that of the Council of Mandates and Immunity on Monday, where the Socialists and Democrats presented two different reports, despite the facts presented by SPAK prosecutors, Klodian Braho, Dritan Prençi and Dorina Bejko. According to the prosecution, Balluku has intimidated and threatened witnesses, while her position has been aggravated by exposing her to up to 35 years in prison.
The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, stated that the Socialists do not agree with the immediate granting of authorization to lift immunity, as proposed by the Democratic Party, emphasizing that decision-making belongs to the plenary session.
"With full reason, the Assembly has taken the necessary time for this process, even after the involvement of the Constitutional Court. Today's discussion and the questions of the council members have shed light on the essential element, the presumption of innocence. No one is guilty until there is a final court decision," Balla said.
He stressed that the Mandates Council does not issue authorization, but only prepares reports, while the decision is made in the plenary session. According to him, MP Ulsi Manja will draft the report on behalf of the five SP MPs, while the DP will also present its report.
