"To my knowledge, patients do not pay at the QSUT," after the reactions, the director says that the statement was interpreted out of context.
VNA published a video yesterday from the press conference of the Minister of Health and the director of the QSUT. Responding to a question from journalists, the latter stated:
"To my knowledge, I have no knowledge of receiving money and we have not had any complaints to the relevant structures about receiving money from doctors."
The video, which has received thousands of clicks and hundreds of comments from citizens who know very well how “free medicine” works in Albania, seems to have worried the “principality” of healthcare. The reaction came through a statement where, among other things, it is said that a normal response, related to a concrete situation, was then generalized and interpreted out of context, turning into a moment that was widely shared on social networks.
The QSUT states that unfounded accusations against medical personnel directly affect citizens' trust in healthcare staff and damage the relationship between patient and doctor.
In fact, Ms. Paparizo's words were not taken out of context at all. They were said clearly and simply. After declaring her ignorance, there is no follow-up thought regarding the essential question: is the QSUT aware that patients and their families pay to receive services?
Someone needs to tell the director that the truth is so clear that it screams inside and outside of any context. And that beautiful sentences and propaganda cannot hide the fact that Albanians pay to receive the service that the government calls free.
