US President Donald Trump has declared that the US administration has decided to temporarily suspend attacks on Iran to pave the way for a diplomatic solution, stressing that Washington remains ready for dialogue with Tehran.
In an interview with Axios, Trump said the decision is intended to give negotiators an opportunity to reach an agreement, but warned that the United States is prepared to resume military action if talks fail.
"We are pausing attacks on Iran to give diplomacy a chance. However, if negotiations fail, we are prepared for strong military action," the US president declared.
Trump's statement comes at a tense moment between Washington and Tehran, hinting that the US administration is prioritizing diplomacy, but without giving up the possibility of a military response if a solution is not reached through negotiations.
