Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on the social network X regarding today's decision of the Constitutional Court to close the social network TikTok, describing it as a violation of free speech. He mocked the Court's position, emphasizing that according to this decision, it seems as if 90% of Albanian parents and teachers were wrong when they requested the temporary closure of the platform.
According to him, the temporary closure of TikTok brought concrete results, as the company took additional measures for content control and security.
He underlined that the reopening of the platform was achieved thanks to the cooperation with the company and the changes it has undertaken, adding that the Court's decision may encourage defamers, while parents and teachers may feel more relieved.
We recall that the decision to close TikTok was only on paper, as in reality this goal was not achieved. The social network was used massively by citizens by changing the VPN on their phones.
