The Mayor of Rrogozhina, Edison Memolla, following the Appeals Court's decision, surrendered himself to the Rrogozhina Police this Monday afternoon in implementation of the decision that upheld the first-instance sentence: 1 year in prison and 5 years of deprivation of the right to exercise public functions.
The Mayor of Rrogozhina, Edison Memolla, was not in session when the Appeal upheld the 1-year prison sentence for active electoral corruption in collaboration, given by the Special Court on January 24, 2025. He was represented only by his lawyer. The removal of the right to hold public office for a period of 5 years was also upheld.
The trio of black platoons Florjan Kalaj, Daniela Shirka and Igerta Hysi sealed the decision by not accepting the request for innocence or alternative punishment in probation for Memolla. The mayor of Rrogozhina was investigated and tried at liberty, without security measures. According to sources, the mayor of Rrogozhina surrendered himself to the Kavaja police this afternoon. Blerim Xhamani and Ndriçim Tafxhafa also surrendered to the police.
