The Tirana Municipal Council approved the budget for 2026, worth around 400 million euros, in a meeting held without the presence of Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Previously, the Council had requested Veliaj's participation in budget discussions, but the request was rejected by SPAK, on the grounds that it did not meet the criteria set by law.
During the session, 29 amendments proposed by the opposition, with a total value of around 90 million euros, were not put to a vote, adding to the political debates surrounding the budget approval process.
