"We will participate in the Mandates Council and our vote is clear, in favor of justice. We said it yesterday: there will be no chance in that Assembly for Balluk's corruption to be locked away in the vault."
This was stated today by the chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, clearly aligning himself, in appearance, with the new judiciary and its recent actions.
According to Bardhi, the problem lies in the fact that the order prohibits Balluku from reviewing the materials in the Assembly, while, according to him, she has taken copies of the evidence, with the aim of intimidating witnesses. At the same time, the deputies who will examine the case are not allowed to familiarize themselves with the documents.
"This process began with a serious violation by the Speaker of the Assembly. There is no secret in the acts of the Prosecution. Peleshi and Rama have declared them secret, because Rama is the author," said Bardhi.
Up to this point, the head of the DP parliamentary group stands in a position formally in accordance with the law and the Constitution. But coherence remains a problem. Gazment Bardhi, as a senior representative of the Democratic Party in the Assembly, must make it clear to Albanians, once and for all, what the position of the largest opposition party is towards the new justice system and SPAK.
Does the DP support the Special Prosecution Office or not? Are they acting towards SPAK and GJKKO? Will the DP maintain the same standard for every request for lifting immunity that reaches the Assembly?
Without clear answers to these questions, today's DP stance remains simply spontaneous and momentary, without particular weight in the wake of the strong actions that SPAK has taken in recent months.
