A preliminary hearing was held this Thursday at the Special Court to review the charges against former President Ilir Meta, his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi and 3 other defendants.
While defending himself in court, Ilir Meta poked Prime Minister Edi Rama through the glass cage.
"I have been a statesman. I have never abused my duty. I have lived a simple life. I have not drunk 33 thousand euro worth of wine and I have not traveled by charter," said Meta.
It was former fugitive Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj who accused Edi Rama of drinking 33 thousand euros worth of wine, a detail that was emphasized by Meta in the courtroom. After hearing the parties' claims, the court decided to postpone the decision on whether or not to proceed with the criminal case against the defendants to next Wednesday.
