The Dutch Embassy in Albania has reacted after the Socialist Party rejected SPAK's request to lift Belinda Balluku's immunity.
Through a Facebook status, the Dutch Embassy underlines that it supports Albania's integration into the EU.
Regarding today's decision of the Albanian Parliament regarding the lifting of immunity, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Albania states: The Netherlands supports Albania's integration into the European Union, in line with the wishes of the Albanian people. A key requirement for progress in this merit-based process is the effective prosecution of corruption, including at the highest levels. We clearly expect that, in such cases, the justice system will be able to proceed swiftly and without hindrance. Albanian politics remains responsible for ensuring this process.
