The Supreme State Audit Office has submitted last year's report to the Parliament, documenting a hefty bill of economic damage caused by the central and local governments. Data obtained by VNA shows that the bill is 26,210,795,000 Lekë or 273 million Euros.
Customs & Taxes bear the brunt of the damage (over 75 million euros in total), mainly due to tariff misclassifications and incorrect fiscal treatment.
At the State Attorney's Office, the damage comes from poor management of international arbitrations and the ECHR, where delays translate into direct costs for the budget.
AKU & AKUK , although the figures are lower compared to customs, the damage here has a direct impact on public health (food safety and water quality).
In Public Procurement , the report notes a worrying trend of disqualification of the lowest bids without justification, increasing the costs of state contracts.
