The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused the head of the High Court, Sokol Sadushi, of acting in the interests of Mayor Erion Veliaj. In a statement to the media during the meeting of the DP parliamentary group, Berisha warned that the decision of the High Court, which is expected to be issued tomorrow, will be to abolish pre-trial detention for persons without a final decision. According to him, this decision serves Veliaj's interests, but dozens of criminals will also benefit.
"Tomorrow, Sadushi, in an act that absolutely threatens the security of Albania and the countries of the region, comes out with the decision that those who are in detention without a final decision will be released. This is Veliaj's decision, I would call it that. But dozens of drug lords, heads of criminal organizations, benefit from this decision," declared Berisha.
The leader of the Democrat Party also accused the new director of prisons, Adriatik Kupi, whom he said is one of the exponents of the affair known as "5D". Berisha added that the appointment of Kupi is a deliberate move by Prime Minister Rama, with the aim of restoring peace with Erion Veliaj.
