The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called the wealth investigation against him a political attack, where several DP figures have been summoned to SPAK to be questioned about the financing of the National Assembly of December 11, 2021, which was held in the stadium.
In today's statement to the media, Berisha said that the investigation of his assets has been carried out with a magnifying glass, while he accused SPAK prosecutors who are dealing with this issue of being primitive and deceiving the public.
"The investigation into Berisha's assets was carefully scrutinized, finalized and sent to court on time. This political investigation that is being conducted has no connection to any investigation into the assets of Sali Berisha and his children. It is a genuine political investigation into the Re-establishment Assembly, for which I have no objections. I have said and I say, the prosecution must be free and we remain open to any kind of action. But the connection is a deception that the former state security executioner, in collaboration with Dumani, made of the case. They are primitive, because if they were to conduct that investigation, I would call it a normal thing. But the fact that they have nothing to investigate, they want to connect it to something to lie about, proves that they are conducting a political investigation," said Berisha.
The leader of the DP did not know any figures on how much the National Assembly bill was, although he states that every bill is declared.
"Everything has been declared, every financing of every person. This has been declared, there is nothing hidden. And the people who financed it have declared it as soon as they were asked. And I believe they are calling names, so they know that these people have declared. That is all. I do not have any figures in mind," said Berisha.
We recall that this week, SPAK questioned MP Belind Këlliçi and the Secretary for Diaspora in the Democratic Party, Indrit Hoxha, regarding the investigation it is conducting into the Re-establishment Assembly.
