The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, said in Lezha that the opposition has not given the government of Edi Rama the necessary "wood" to remove him from power. In the next meeting he held as part of the Foltores tour, the leader of the DP said that the opposition's achievement lies in the fact that it has shown that the Rama government is an enemy of the free will of Albanians.
"We have made it clear to every Albanian that the enemy of the will of Albanians is named Rama; that he has stolen mandates by all means; that he remains in power as a representative of the most dangerous drug cartels in Albania and Europe. For a government to remain in power without legitimacy is because the opposition has not given it the wood it deserves," he said.
One of the democrats raised concerns about the lack of contact between the DP leaders and the grassroots, emphasizing that for about eight months there has been insufficient communication, which according to him harms the internal life of the party.
"As a good sniffer of politics that you are, you have smelled a thread that is very disconnected from the base. That is, it has been eight months since you have had contact with the base, while this base keeps the DP alive. I believe that this is due to the misinformation that is being spread from number two and below, mainly by the district leaders, who are appointed, are on closed lists and I believe that they do not know either the leaders or the Democrats well," said one of the participants.
Another question had to do with the issue of leadership and handing over the baton. Without questioning that he will be at the head of the DP as long as he is alive, Berisha spoke about the successor when he is no longer in this life, stating that he does not intend to leave a legacy even to his family.
"Now, to be honest, the only thing I can never do is have a successor. It's not realistic. I have no intention of leaving a successor, neither my daughter nor my son. As a successor, I will leave the one you choose and trust the most," Berisha said.
However, it remains to be seen how long the leader of the Democratic Party will keep this promise, while he did not forget to once again show the red line to Ervin Salianjan:
"We have open debates. But one thing: if you run for private interests and speak on behalf of the DP, you will end up just like the others and without any name," said Berisha.
Finally, the leader of the DP called for democrats to join the national protest to be held on January 24 in front of the prime minister's office.
