Socialist MP Erion Braçe is the only one from the majority, and perhaps even the opposition, who seems concerned about the ongoing protests of the Spaç miners. Today he joined them in front of the Parliament, rightly demanding that the responsible ministry force the company to accept their demands.
"The Ministry of Labor must do what the law requires: not to mitigate the situation, but to guarantee the implementation of the Constitution by the Albanian state contractor for the exploitation of the resource. So, it must force the company to recognize your union and through it to represent you for all your rights. This is fundamental," said Braçe.
However, the paradox is clear, the words are beautiful, the support for the miners is fair, but Brace as part of the majority seems to be limited to rhetoric. If he had really taken their problem seriously, it would have been easier to address the concern within the government he is part of and, above all, in the SP parliamentary group, which has rarely taken the miners' status into account, even when the issue has been proposed in the Assembly.
So, to be honest with himself and the causes he supports, Braçe should either raise the miners' demands in the institutions he is a part of. If his colleagues refuse to listen to him, then he should leave the SP parliamentary group. Because you can't protest with the miners and at the same time be part of a group that doesn't even try to listen to them.
