DP leader Sali Berisha reacted to reports that he will sit down with Prime Minister Edi Rama to discuss the establishment of a Senate. Denying this, Berisha said that the discussions will be conducted by party representatives on the commission, not him, as if their decision-making were independent of political leaders.
"There is a parliamentary commission, and that law does not foresee my sitting with Edi Rama. It foresees that representatives of the two parties in the Parliament's electoral commission will also discuss Senate issues. If they agree, the number of MPs will be reduced. And I am for this," Berisha declared.
According to him, negotiations on possible changes will continue at a technical level between the SP and the DP, while he remains in favor of reducing the number of deputies in the Assembly.
