Ilir Alimehmeti, who has apparently taken the reins of the Democratic Party in Tirana, held a meeting today with the Democrats of branch no. 14 in the capital.
"Good evening Florinj," Alimehmeti writes in his status, accompanied by a photo of Secretary General Flamur Noka and MP Edi Paloka.
The electoral meeting seems to have ended, except for one detail that immediately caught our eye.
Although the status mentions the opposition-backed candidate, Florian Binaj, the latter is not seen in any of the published photos. Apparently, the complex of hiding behind the finger of finding an independent candidate is leading the DP to the strategy of "hiding" the candidate.
Florian Binaj either retouched the photos, or was the one who took them himself.
Otherwise, if it was truly a meeting for the candidate, it would be the first time that a political force in Albania has invented such an absurd format: an electoral meeting without the main figure of the race.
For the moment, a crucial detail remains unclear: is Florian Binaj part of the campaign or simply a name that the DP mentions in the hope that he will be voted for by the Democrats without going to meetings with them?
