The EU Delegation in Tirana has called the statements of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, speculation, who two days ago said that the EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, was making distorting statements in Brussels regarding Albania and the Democratic Party.
In a reaction to Euronews, Albania said that they have no comment on the speculation.
In a statement to the media on Monday, Berisha accused Gonzato of behaving in Brussels as if he were Edi Rama's ambassador.
The leader of the Democrat Party claimed that the EU ambassador, speaking about the AKSH scandal in Brussels, stated that hostage-taking is not Albanian culture. According to Berisha, this is an insult to Albanians and that hostage-taking was carried out at AKSH for the benefit of Rama's brother-in-law.
Berisha continued with the accusations against Gonzato, saying that the latter stated in Brussels that the DP's agenda is MAGA. He said that this is another lie by the ambassador, since the Democrats' agenda is Albania's integration into the EU.
This is not the only statement the DP leader has made against the EU ambassador in Tirana. Previously, Berisha has also clashed over the gender equality law.
