The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, confirmed today that the elections on May 23 within the Democratic Party will not have any surprises and will be held just to pass the time.
At today's press conference, Berisha said that he will be one of the candidates in the race, which goes without saying that he will be its president again. He was even surprised by the journalist who asked him if he would run again.
"Who told you no? Because I know how to ask this question!", he declared.
In fact, the leader of the democrats' response is quite clear, as the DP has been under his leadership for 35 years now and he has shown that there are no opponents who can take it from him.
The DP leader was also asked about Article 46 of the statute, which he established and which stipulates that "the president who loses the elections automatically loses the position of president and has no right to run for re-election." But with the principle of "law and evil in his hands," Berisha said that it cannot be implemented because in May 2025 there were no elections but an electoral farce.
He even did not see it reasonable for this point of the DP statute to be changed by the commission established for statutory changes, although it is rumored that it will be one of the rules that will be removed.
However, time has shown that no matter how the statute is written and changed, the DP will function as Sali Berisha says, who has no intention of changing the party, which will most likely remain in its protracted opposition for a long time to come.
