The Albanian Parliament has approved with 79 votes in favor and 1 abstention the resolution declaring Iran a “state sponsor of terrorism.” The resolution was included in the agenda after the meeting of the Conference of Speakers and was previously announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The document requires the Albanian government, immediately upon approval, to take steps to declare Hezbollah and the Pasdaran terrorist organizations.
While the Socialists described the resolution as an "urgent need," the opposition, led by the Democratic Party, boycotted the parliamentary session.
However, MP Erald Kapri from the Opportunity Party and Redi Muçi from the Bashke Party were present in the hall. Kapri voted in favor of the resolution.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku were absent during the vote. Meanwhile, unlike the last session where Belinda Balluku was voted on, Elisa Spiropali and Fatmir Xhafaj were not absent from the Assembly.
