Former DP MP Ervin Salianji has spoken out against the changes to the party's statute that were proposed today at the DP Presidency meeting. In a reaction on Facebook, Salianji said that he cannot pave the way for unilateral changes to the "party constitution" and statute.
He states that Article 46 is clear and cannot be bypassed for the sake of momentary interests.
"Any action that imitates Rama's model is not a solution, but usurpation," says Salianji, adding that any such attempt would make the perpetrators responsible before the opposition and society.
He also criticizes what he terms as a tendency to usurp the rules, weaken the party's branches, and exclude Democrats, emphasizing that the DP cannot be treated as the private property of a few individuals.
The former Democratic MP continued to criticize Berisha for the recent attacks on the EU ambassador, saying that he is following the same model of behavior that Prime Minister Edi Rama uses in government.
Salianji emphasizes that Rama is under international pressure on issues related to respect for the law and equality before it, while warning that the opposition should not fall into the same "trap" by changing the rules or attacking internationals.
At the end of his reaction, he states that if the opposition begins to behave like the government it denounces, it risks damaging not only itself, but also citizens' trust in political alternatives.
"Because in the end, the question arises that no one will hear, but that many citizens are already asking: is the game the same and the parties closer than they seem?", the former Democratic MP concludes his reaction.
