"The Democratic Party absolutely does not participate in any intervention," said Sali Berisha, when asked if the DP would be part of a majority initiative for changes in the justice system.
The response of the DP leader comes a day after the chairman of the Laws Committee, Ulsi Manja, made the message clear to prosecutors and judges that, if they do not rise to the level of "qualitative justice", the majority will intervene.
In today's statement to the media, Berisha said that judges have the right to claim a salary pyramid in the spirit of the Constitution and laws.
However, the leading democrat maintains that a group of prosecutors have been overpaid by Prime Minister Edi Rama, in order to attack the opposition. Berisha called them "overpaid mercenaries" in one of the countries with the lowest salaries, such as Albania.
He also said that Rama is sacrificing the country's integration to protect himself. According to him, the EU is discussing undoing Albania's EU integration process due to the unconstitutional stances the prime minister is taking with Balluk and the AKSHI file.
