The five opposition members of the Council of Mandates and Immunities attempted to hold a meeting of this council today at 11:00, but this was impossible, as the door to the hall where the meeting was to be held was locked.
Opposition MPs Oerd Bylykbashi, Elda Hoti and Saimir Korreshi appeared at the Parliament premises, but found that the hall was blocked, thus preventing them from exercising their constitutional responsibilities.
The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, in a statement to the media, stated that the Parliament has been transformed into a "bunker" to protect the corruption of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. He emphasized that 10 days have passed since SPAK's request to lift her immunity, which according to him paves the way for her arrest.
"Half of the Council requested a meeting of the Council of Mandates and Immunities. Today marks 10 days since SPAK's request to lift the immunity of Balluku, who is accused of violations in 11 tender procedures worth 1.1 billion euros. In a shameful and unprecedented act by Niko Peleshi, not only were the meeting rooms closed, but MPs were also prevented from communicating with the media. The Assembly has turned into Belinda Balluku's bunker," said Bardhi.
According to him, the majority is attempting to hijack justice and prevent SPAK from doing its job. "Peleshi, just like Rama, has turned his office into Belinda's law office," said Bardhi.
For his part, MP Oerd Bylykbashi described the situation as a scandal and directly accused the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, of ordering the closure of the meeting room of the Mandates Council, deliberately blocking the parliamentary process.
