The head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has accused President Bajram Begaj of giving the presidential tenders to a private company where his son is employed. At the press conference from the Parliament where he announced the filing of the request for the president's impeachment, Bardhi also said that Begaj's son, only 23 years old, even though he is abroad for studies, is employed in Albania in an insurance company and is paid twice the average salary of employees there.
"Specifically, in violation of Articles 10, 86, 88 and 89 of the Constitution, it has created a permanent state of conflict of interest that violates free competition in the market by giving the benefits of all public procurements of the institution of the President of the Republic in the relevant field to the private company where his son is allegedly employed fictitiously after the appointment of Mr. Begaj as President of the Republic of Albania. Specifically, the son of the President of the Republic is only 23 years old, while he is abroad all the time and according to our documents, he is studying and employed outside the Republic of Albania. At the same time, in addition to studying and working abroad, the data can be found in the attached evidence to avoid confusion, it turns out that he is also employed in an insurance company within the territory of the Republic of Albania, with a salary that is double the average salary of employees in this company. So, only 23 years old and you will have to verify the company's salaries, he has a salary equal to the general director of the company and the two department directors. So, out of the hundreds of employees that the company has, the result is that he is the fourth highest-paid employee in this company," said Bardhi.
This adds to the opposition's accusations against Begaj, who initially demanded his dismissal for the decrees he issued for virtual minister Diella and the Investigative Commissions.
