The DP must undergo a deep reform within itself, according to Ilir Alimehmeti, head of the Department of Health. He considers this a key opportunity to put the party on the right track towards the upcoming local elections. Alimehmeti stressed that beyond the battle to tell the truth about the May 11 elections, the DP has two main challenges: the battle in parliament and the battle to make the DP a winning party. According to him, to achieve this, the party must open up and reorganize.
"Those principles with which the re-establishment began; the first is openness, which means inviting people who can contribute to the party, and the second is meritocracy. People who perform well should be supported, while those who have not performed properly should be reviewed," said Alimehmeti.
He added that reorganization is the only way to create spirit and hope in the DP:
"Without a real reform, we will have difficulty approaching the 2027 elections. This requires time and procedures, and we are still waiting for the final OSCE-ODIHR report, which will serve as the basis for discussing this reform."
Alimehmeti also emphasized the importance of flexibility and necessary changes:
“Something that works, works. Something that doesn't work, needs to be changed for the better. As Einstein said, if we use the same methodology and expect different results, we are not clear about what we are doing.”
He announced that he will take a position on the DP National Council, contributing to discussions on reforming the party and how it can become a winning force.
