The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, spoke again about his summons to SPAK regarding the events of “January 21”. In a statement to the media, Berisha accused the institutions of having avoided him for 12 years, as according to him they were afraid of his testimony.
"In this specific case, a while ago, the question was raised why Sali Berisha was not called 12 years after he left power. From 2013, the case was being investigated two weeks ago. Why was he not called, who prevented him? Which institution did Sali Berisha, Ina Rama or Arta Marku control? None! I was never called alone. And in the event that I would be called, there is no doubt that I would appear. But I was not called because they were afraid of my testimony. All this was not done because of my testimony. And yet they are afraid," said Berisha.
However, until now, the DP leader has denied having received any official subpoena from SPAK on this matter, despite the requests being sent to three addresses: his residence, the Parliament and the DP headquarters. Only today, during his appearance in the “Partizani” case at the Special Prosecution Office, Berisha signed to testify also in relation to “January 21”.
It remains to be seen whether this time the Democrat leader will respect the subpoena, or find other reasons to avoid it.
