Ndoc Macaj, who executed Piro Prroni last night in the village of Abat in Shala, has stated that he committed the crime after an ongoing conflict between them. He claims that for a month, Prroni had been accusing him of stealing his wallet - a theft that Macaj says he did not commit.
"I swore to him in church that I hadn't stolen it," he declared to investigators.
Despite this, clashes between them continued, as they were often in each other's company. According to the alleged perpetrator's testimony, on the evening of the incident, Prroni had insulted him, and in response, he opened fire on him.
After several hours on the run, Macaj surrendered to the police.
The families of both have confirmed that the victim and the perpetrator often frequented each other and consumed alcohol together, occasionally having conflicts. However, the police do not rule out other avenues of investigation, including that of a property dispute.
Piro Prroni was given his final farewell today, while Ndoc Maçaj is expected to appear before the Shkodra Court for the security measure.
