The Elbasan Court has decided to leave in force the security measure "prison arrest" for Nevzat Spaho, investigated in connection with the murder of businessman Mondi Mëhalla. The decision was made after reviewing the file documents and hearing the parties, where Judge Elis Dine accepted the request of Prosecutor Gjergji Ceka, considering the detention legal.
Spaho's defense requested a lighter security measure, arguing that the arrest was unfounded, but the court dismissed the claims, assessing that the evidence so far is sufficient for his continued detention.
A day earlier, the Elbasan Court also sentenced Xhino Ago, accused of being an accomplice in the murder of the businessman, as well as the guard of the gas station owned by the victim, to "prison arrest".
Meanwhile, the search continues for Marcelo Arani, 32, from Elbasan, and Armando Kola, 35, from Laçi, both suspected as direct perpetrators of the incident. Arani was currently under house arrest for another criminal case, while he was previously arrested for money laundering, with the seizure of 136 thousand euros in assets.
Investigations have revealed that the vehicle used by the perpetrators is owned by Gino Agos, who is suspected of having lent it to Marcelo Arani.
The main line of investigation is related to the breakdown of the bargains between the two partners. The special investigative group, under the direction of the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, is continuing intensive actions to identify and capture other persons involved in the incident.
