The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has chosen as his lawyer former SP MP Plarent Ndreca, who is also a defendant and is being tried at the GJKKO.
But special prosecutor Altin Dumani reminded the court that Ndreca was questioned about the Veliaj case.
"Regarding the defendant Erion Veliaj, he has been informed about the hearing and has requested to be represented by his lawyer Plarent Ndreca. This lawyer was questioned in the context of this criminal proceeding and we may be in conditions of incompatibility of the defense counsel, given that he was questioned during the preliminary investigation phase," said Dumani.
"We leave it to the courts, but we want to avoid incompatibilities in the future," he further emphasized.
The court withdrew to decide whether or not to legitimize Ndreca as the lawyer for the mayor of Tirana.
