The Korça Court has today decided to release Kevi Muçllari, deeming his arrest by the Pogradec police as illegal.
The court hearing took place this morning, where the prosecution requested the security measure "compulsory appearance", but the court rejected this request and ordered Muçllari's immediate release.
Defense attorney Endri Çela stated after the hearing that his client's detention was unjustified and that Muçllari was unjustly held for three days at the police station.
Kevi Muçllari was arrested three days ago by officers of the Pogradec Police Station, on charges of "assault in the line of duty", after a physical altercation with a councilor during a meeting of the Pogradec Municipal Council.
The incident occurred after a fierce debate over the draft decision for the lease of state lands in the village of Çërrava.
