The National Cyber Security Authority has informed the public about the identification of an online fraud case, through a self-proclaimed platform TXEX, which is presented as an application for investing in cryptocurrencies.
According to the official announcement, this platform is not registered and does not have any license to operate in the Republic of Albania, making it outside any national legal framework. From the observations of the Authority and the numerous denunciations made public, it has been concluded that its activity bears the clear features of a digital fraudulent scheme.
In this context, the State Police has launched criminal investigations, through the Cyber Crime Investigation Directorate and the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Directorate, based on the information obtained and the evidence presented. Specialized structures are intensively continuing investigative and operational actions to prevent and crack down on illegalities that take place online, which aim to benefit money from citizens. In its announcement, the State Police warns citizens to show increased caution and not fall prey to such schemes, which promise immediate and unverified profits.
"The State Police calls on all citizens to exercise increased caution and avoid applications or involvement in such platforms, which promise immediate and unverified profits," the official statement reads.
Likewise, law enforcement agencies call on citizens to immediately contact the relevant structures of the State Police for any suspicions or information that may assist the investigation: the Cyber Crime Investigation Directorate, the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Directorate at the General Directorate of the State Police, as well as the relevant sectors in each Local Police Directorate.
Investigations continue, while authorities warn citizens not to fall prey to scams of this nature and to always verify the legality of online platforms before engaging in financial investments.
