Tensions were registered this morning in front of the Durrës Municipality building, where residents affected by the TID project protested against the demolition of their homes. The protest was accompanied by police intervention and the forcible escorting of several citizens.
Residents have been protesting since the early hours of the morning in defense of their property, initially facing intervention from the Municipal Police and then measures from the State Police. So far, it is reported that a total of six residents have been escorted.
The TID project is expected to affect the homes of 74 families from Durrës. Initially, citizens gathered in front of the Municipality of Durrës, where they demanded explanations about the situation and fate of their homes. They then followed the chairman of the District Council, Alfred Mullaraj, and detained the head of the Territory Protection Inspectorate (IMT) of the Municipality of Durrës, demanding clarifications regarding the project.
As the protest continued, there were moments of tension as residents blocked the road in protest, reacting to what they consider to be a violation of their rights and homes. In these conditions, police forces intervened to disperse the crowd.
After being denied entry to the municipality premises, some protesters threw eggs and toilet paper towards the building. After police intervention, three more protesters were escorted away, while the remaining residents attempted to remove them from the police van.
The situation remains tense, as residents demand transparency and solutions to their housing issues.
