SPAK seizes tender file for the New Commercial Port in Porto Romano. The news is confirmed by sources at the Special Prosecutor's Office, who said that agents of the National Bureau of Investigation arrived at the offices of the Port Authority and took all the documentation. SPAK is investigating for abuses or pre-determination of the tender worth 400 million euros.
The tender procedure for the New Commercial Port in Porto Romano was announced in December 2024. Five international operators submitted their bids, but in the pre-qualification phase of the tender, some of the largest European consortia were disqualified. Among them were Jan De Nul, the Vinci group, as well as the Van Oord consortium, the latter a Dutch company known for building ports.
On March 14, 2025, Jan De Nul and the Vinci group filed a complaint with the Public Procurement Commission, but after review, the complaint was dismissed and the further procedure continued. Currently, only Archirodon is in the competition. The Cypriot subsidiary must submit its financial offer by March 9.
The project for the New Commercial Port in Porto Romano is financed by the state budget and is worth 400 million euros.
