A letter of request from the United States of America has been presented as new evidence in the trial against former President Ilir Meta, his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi and three other defendants.
The document was submitted to the Special Court during the preliminary hearing for the review of the Meta-Kryemadhi file.
Sources close to SPAK indicate that through a registered letter, American justice authorities have confirmed that part of the payment for one of the lobbying contracts of the former Socialist Movement for Integration was made from the account of one of the companies owned by businessman Adrian Shatku.
Given this new development, Monika Kryemadhi leveled accusations against SPAK, which she said aims to keep Ilir Meta in prison and put pressure on him and his family. The former head of state and the former MP are accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
