Regarding the question related to the procedures for verifying the judicial and criminal status of Magistrate Irena Gjoka, the Prosecutor General, Olsian Çela, said that the verification period of the case of Special Judge Irena Gjoka has no deadline.
"This process has no deadline. Deadlines are extended by 3 months whenever necessary. The law requires us to conduct a full verification and then send it to the body that requested verification. In the case in question, the issue is related to the return of responses to letters of request, which are not in our hands. We have requested that the data be complete in order to serve all bodies. The verification was requested from us by the High Judicial Council," said Çela.
We recall that the verification was launched in May 2024. We are a year and a half later! The Prosecutor General, who has institutional responsibility for the structure responsible for verifying cases that are under the conditions of the Decriminalization Law, after a year and a half hides behind the "indefinite" deadline.
According to the Attorney General, the only condition is to extend the deadline by 3 months. And since the calendar has endless 3-month periods, does "infinitely" mean "without a deadline"?
