An arsenal of weapons has been seized in Tirana, while four people have been arrested, as a result of a police action conducted by Police Commissariat No. 3, in cooperation with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office.
The investigations documented several cases of arms and ammunition trafficking. The following citizens were arrested as part of the operation:
Gloris Nezaj, with previous criminal records for crimes against life and person;
Rezarto Rumi, with criminal records for the production and sale of narcotics;
Kelvin Caushi, with criminal records for crimes against life and person;
Ardjan Caushi.
The investigations proved that these citizens, in collaboration with each other, supplied firearms to criminal groups operating mainly in the Tirana region. Each of them had a defined role, from securing firearm parts, storing and adapting them, to selling them.
According to investigators, the firearms were ordered piecemeal from Kosovo, then modified and stored in the Selita area.
Initially, two firearms were seized as material evidence from one of the members of the group who had the role of selling weapons to the client. The premises where the weapons were stored were then discovered.
During the operation, the following were seized:
3 automatic firearms;
5 firearms, pistols;
1 single shotgun, with the inscription "Breda Brescia Italy";
12 rifle and pistol magazines;
a significant amount of combat ammunition for automatic weapons and pistols;
1 military bulletproof vest;
9 metal parts suspected to be firearm parts;
3 radio receivers/transmitters with the inscription "Bondi", similar to those of the Police;
9 mobile phones;
1 metal baton, similar to those of the Police;
1 small black axe, with hammer parts;
36 thousand euros;
1 DVR with the inscription "Hikvision".
The suspects are charged with the following criminal offenses:
"Trafficking in weapons and ammunition", "Unlicensed production and possession of cold weapons", "Unlicensed production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons", "Unlawful possession of uniform" and "Hiding income".
