From the North to the South of the country, snowfalls and landslides have created numerous difficulties with traffic, especially on secondary roads. The main national axes remain open, but some areas have experienced serious disruptions.
In Burrel, the newly built Ring Road has been rendered inoperable after the road collapsed, forcing vehicles to pass through the town. Problems with rock and debris slides are also reported on Arbri Street, as well as on secondary roads in Tropoja and Kukës.
In the Gjuta neighborhood, Shtrezë village, about 10 students cannot attend classes because to reach the schools of Shishtavec and Novosej they have to walk 30 minutes on a mountain road. The situation is made more difficult by the wooden bridge built by the residents, which is dilapidated and dangerous to cross, isolating about 15 families whenever it rains.
In Shkodra, several mountain roads, including Han i Hotit–Doganë–Vermosh and Bogë–Qafë Thore–Theth, are only passable with winter tires and chains. In the south, the Llogara road is open, but at Qafë e Vishë, at the entrance to Himara, rock slides have forced authorities to temporarily block traffic. The Tepelenë–Gjirokastër road operates with only one lane near the “Black Rock” due to ongoing landslides.
The situation also remains problematic in Bashaj in Selenica and in the Qukës–Qafë Plloçë area in Korça, where landslides and floods have blocked roads, isolating residents and making it difficult to provide food and health services. On some axes, traffic is being driven with increased caution or with only one lane.
In Elbasan, landslides from the slopes blocked traffic towards Gjinari for about an hour, while vehicles from the Municipality and the Albanian Road Authority are working on the ground to normalize the situation.
Authorities advise residents and drivers to be careful, follow signs, and use winter equipment where necessary.
