The landslide in Dragostunje blocked the Librazhd-Prrenjas road axis for about eight hours, leaving hundreds of vehicles waiting. For the director of the Albanian Road Authority, the answer was simple, “the landslide is a natural phenomenon.”
The Director of the Albanian Roads and Highways Agency, Ami Kozeli, categorically denied any impact of the works on the area, even though the new road route being built belongs precisely to the slope of the mountain that collapsed and where heavy vehicles work every day. According to him, the problem is not the excavators, but nature.
"It seems that the mountain is oversaturated with water," declared Kozeli, after a "naked eye" observation, attributing the landslide to rainfall and not to works a few meters above.
The slope in question is part of the works for the construction of a new road segment, within the framework of the Corridor VIII project.
After the intervention of the teams on the ground, it was possible to clear the road and traffic was restored in both directions after eight hours.
